FDLTCC Associate of Arts Program Tracks for
Science, Mathematics, Engineering, and Technology (STEM) students

Science, Mathematics, Engineering, and Technology (STEM) four-year degree
programs among Minnesota public universities.
Suggested FDLTCC AA 2-year degree program for STEM majors:
1) 60 credits with minimum GPA of 2.00
2) At least 20 credits at FDLTCC including the last 10 credits
3) MTC requirements (40 credits)
4) AMIN 1050 - Anishinaabeg of Lake Superior
5) MATH 2001-2 (calculus 1 & 2)
6) CHEM 1010-11 or PHYS 1010-11
Natural science and engineering bachelor's degree programs have some common
requirements of which MTC (liberal arts), calculus 1 & 2, and a year of physical
science are the common core.
Specific requirements for programs at University of Minnesota and MnSCU
campuses are detailed below as they are addressed by the FDLTCC ANS degree.
Most natural science and engineering bachelor's degree program plans require
calculus 1 & 2 to be completed in the first year if the degree is to be completed
in four years. However, five-year plans for bachelor degrees in engineering and
natural sciences are typical when pre-calculus preparation is necessary. The
FDLTCC ANS degree is thus a two year component of 2+3 bachelor degree plans for
natural science and engineering. Students prepared to take calculus 1 & 2 in
their first year at FDLTCC may be able to transfer early and complete a bachelor's
degree according to a 1+3 plan.
Specifics of selected bachelor's degree programs at each school should be
carefully studied.
