Computer Science Transfer
Program
If you plan to transfer from FDLTCC to get a bachelor's degree
in computer science, consult the catalog of the school you are
planning to attend regarding specific requirements.
For transfer to public four year colleges & universities
in Minnesota, complete the FDLTCC Associate of Arts degree which
satisfies liberal arts requirements as per Minnesota Transfer
Curriculum design. Within your FDLTCC AA degree plan, you should
complete key courses and sequences which are required for most
bachelor's degrees in computer science:
- Introduction to Computer Science for Majors: CSCI 2010-1.
The prerequisite is college algebra Math 1010 and
previous programming experience. For 1997-8, this course
will use C++ and Java to explore computing concepts. For
many students who lack experience with computing, it
would be useful to take the courses CSCI 1001 and CSCI
1020 before CSCI 2010-1.
- Calculus 1-2: Math 2001-2. The prerequisite is college
algebra Math 1010 and trigonometry Math 1015.
- A year-long science sequence with lab suitable for majors
in the field. CHEM 1010-1, PHYS 1010-1, and BIOL
1010-21-22 are suitable. (Note than CHEM 1010-1 and PHYS
1010-1 are usually required for engineering majors.)
FDLTCC AA requirements call for courses in at least two
disciplines, so an additional science course must be
taken in another field even if a suitable 1 year one
science sequence is completed..
